Connecticut Nutmeg State Games Celebrates 25 Years
Despite not having numerous professional or prominent sports teams located within the state, Connecticut does have a strong focus on sports. Their annual Nutmeg State Games is a powerful demonstration of the way the state values sports and athletic programs. The Nutmeg State Games is a non-profit organization that brings communities together through providing an Olympic style event that transcends age, race, and socioeconomic barriers.
It also includes an Athlete of the Year Program. Along with healthy competition and enjoyment, the events foster physical fitness and encourage healthy lifestyles among participants. It provides a very positive and experience for the athletes, their families and the communities in which they live. This summer's games represent the 25th year of the event.
The Nutmeg State Games are structured like the Olympics, complete with medals that are awarded for the top three finishers in each event. There are more than 25 different sports to compete in. The annual games are supported financial through local and national business partners.
Some of the program's objectives include fostering an environment in which athletes can participate in activities that are healthy and wholesome, promote healthy competition and sportsmanship, support the personal development of physical fitness and good health through attainable goals, bring athletes and families in the community together without regard to socioeconomic or cultural differences.
These objectives are very similar to those of the Olympic Games. Typically, you will not find the CT summer state games included in Connecticut online sports betting lines.
